A little over ten years ago, I came up with a crazy idea to move to Mexico City. I pitched this idea to my parents, and, as a true testament to how awesome they are, they supported me and pushed me to go ahead and do it. In fact, I had already picked a date and was dragging my heels to get going that day when my dad bought me a plane ticket to El Paso, and pushed me to get going! I went with some money I saved up working two jobs and took a wonderful trip through the mountains and down to the Pacific Coast before landing in Mexico City where everything fell into place beautifully!
The rest is a story for another time but my entry into Mexico City began a life of traveling and photography for me. So many friends and family have supported me along the way that I'm starting this newsletter to be a little more proactive in sharing my photography and stories both new and old.
I have titled this newsletter Pike.Desmadre. Desmadre is Mexican slang and can be translated many different ways but I like to think of it as a word that means somewhere between a mess and total chaos. I think it does a pretty good job of defining me and the chaotic world I love to photograph at the same time. I'm very excited to share the mess that is the world and photography of Pike with you!
I want to use this newsletter to promote my photography, and on that note here is the info on my most recent show:
Currently, I have twelve photographs on display at Caffe Medici on West Lynn. While these photos only scratch the surface of the thousands of photos over the years, they capture the exact feeling that I have of all of the travels and experiences I've had over the last ten years. If you made it to the opening, thank you so much for coming, it was a great time! If you haven't gotten a chance to see them yet, drop by Caffe Medici for a wonderful coffee and to see some great black and white work (imho). I have posted everything to my website as well (www.pike.photo ). Of course everything is for sale and I would really love for you to have these images which mean so much to me hanging on your wall!
Thank you for reading! I look forward to sharing more with you soon.
